About
Dr. Daniel Bemporad is a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience developed as the sole full-time psychiatrist for Montana's 54-bed forensic inpatient unit. He has authored or coauthored more than 500 forensic evaluations addressing competency to stand trial (fitness to proceed), criminal responsibility, mental state at the time of offense, and sentencing mitigation. He has provided expert testimony in nearly every district court across Montana and is experienced in communicating complex psychiatric findings in clear, objective, and legally relevant terms. His background includes serving as a Forensic Review Board voting member, Chair of the Involuntary Medication Review Boards for both Montana State Hospital and the Montana State Prison, and former President of the Medical Staff of Montana State Hospital. Dr. Bemporad has presented on forensic topics to legislative commissions and state leadership, testified in over 20 Sell hearings, and routinely collaborates with attorneys, courts, and state agencies to provide thorough psychiatric consultation.

Dr. Bemporad accepts forensic psychiatry referrals from criminal defense attorneys, prosecutors, public defenders, and courts across Montana, Colorado, and New York.
